Obituary

CHARLES EDWARD HEFFLEY JR., age 57, passed away on January 29, 2025, surrounded by his family.  'Charlie' as his family calls him leaves behind the love of his life and wife of six years, Tina Heffley (nee Manser); Children, Aubrey, Madison, Samantha Heffley, Samantha Berchtold (David) and Blake McCullough (fiancée Tiffany Petry); Grandchildren, Evelyn and Theodore Berchtold; Sisters, Iona "Onie" Heffley (Chris Kouri), Starr Kusznir (nee Keller), and Doreen Jones (nee Keller). He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jane Heffley (nee Ross), father, Charles Edward Heffley, and brothers, William Keller and John Keller.

To say he will be greatly missed is an understatement. He was an exceptional human, kind, hilariously funny with a touch of sarcasm. Chaz had more friends than most and made sure they all knew what they meant to him. He had a way of digging into a conversation and was so good at pulling all your thoughts out and mulling over every piece of what you were talking about. He sincerely wanted to know all about you, and he was the best listener anytime you needed to talk.  He was the most loving man to all that he adored and had no problem ever saying, 'I love you'. BE GOOD, BE SAFE, and BE KIND were always his words to you.

'Chuck' Charles Heffley, throughout his driving career, worked for Sysco Foods, E & L and most recently as a car hauler for Jack Cooper Transport out of Flint Michigan. He also belonged to the Teamsters Union Local 332 for 26 years and Bakers Union Local 19 for 6 years. Chuck loved driving the car hauler for all the years with Jack Cooper. Providing for his family was something he took pride in every day.

The nickname of 'Chaz' was given to him by his late father Charles Heffley Sr. This name stuck with him all through his lifelong musical career as a local musician and became a well-known name in the music industry around Lorain, Ohio. Chaz Heffley started playing guitar as a teenager and had his first gig around the age of 18. Chuck Sheets got him into the Tavern on the Mall. His singing and playing career only flourished from there and over the years Chaz played with countless local musicians and at least 11 cover bands.  They consisted of Slamina Y-Trap, Spectrum, Wayside, Special Guest, Mudfish, Never Soft, Wise Ass, Wood Shoppe, Chaz and the Magic Jet Skis and lastly The Banana Fana F4ux and filled in with the band Simple. Besides playing in local bands and singing along the way he loved to write music and would collaborate with whoever had the same passion. He spent many times a day with a guitar or any other musical instrument he could find and when the tune moved him, he would play for hours and write. Chaz made three CDs over the years and even recorded in Philadelphia with his close friend Simon. The CDs were Charlie Heffley 2004 , Something to leave behind 2011 , and It's about time 2016 . He made sure there was something to leave behind and his music will live on forever.
