EDWARD JOHN SLOAN, age 94. Beloved husband of the late Florence (nee Bires); devoted father of Edward (deceased), Carol, Christine Potoczak (Leonard – deceased), and Julie Craft (Thomas); cherished grandfather of Wendi Swiatek (Christopher), Scott Potoczak (Susan), Erica Dawn, Brian Craft and Rachael Craft-Giffi (Adam), and great-grandfather of Madison Swiatek, and Nathaniel, Ethan, Reagan, and Brendan Potoczak; dear brother of Joanne Hribar (Frank-deceased) and the following deceased: Leonard (Ruth) and Frank Slomkowski (Mary). US Army Veteran of WW II, carpenter and accomplished musician. He worked for Warner & Swasey until being drafted and became a carpenter after the military. He built houses and buildings then later worked as a finish carpenter building cabinets and remodeling interiors of homes, churches and schools. He was a devoted Eucharistic minister and choir member of St. Albert the Great Church. For five years he drove to Manor Care Nursing Home to give communion to the residents. He played guitar and double bass in various bands including his own, "The Eddie Sloan Orchestra" at various locations around Cleveland including Euclid Beach Park, Chippewa Lake Park, The Cleveland Athletic Club, Manger Hotel, The Statler Hotel and Cedar Point. Most of all, he was a devoted husband and loving father to three daughters who adored him. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Friends may call for VISITING HOURS on SUNDAY, January 3, from 5-8 PM at Mount Augustine - Regina Health Center, 5232 Broadview Rd., Richfield;(3 MILES SOUTH OF RT82) where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 4, at 11:00 AM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
