Elizabeth
Zeisel
January 25, 1921 – August 11, 2018
Elizabeth "Betty" Zeisel, (nee Szenegeto), age 97, died Saturday, August 11, 2018. She was born on January 25, 1921 to Nicholas and Anna (nee Kondrath) Szenegeto in northern Trumbull County, Ohio. Betty grew up working on her parents' dairy farm, which was also part of an active Hungarian-American community.
In 1939, Betty graduated from high school where she received medals in state academic competitions for both mathematics and French, in which she ranked third highest in Ohio. One of the medals was still displayed at the high school building many decades later. Shortly after graduation Betty moved to Cleveland where she was a milling-machine operator at the National Screw & Manufacturing Company during World War II. She married Bennard Zeisel on October 18, 1947 and they lived in Parma for nearly 20 years. Later they moved to North Royalton where they were residing at the time of Ben's passing in 1967.
Betty then worked for the Tri-Chem liquid embroidery company for a time and she lived on her own until she was 92 years old. She spent the last five years of her life at The Heights in Broadview Heights, where she liked meeting new people and doing activities. Betty really enjoyed and truly appreciated the staff at The Heights plus the hospice staff and volunteers, as did the family.
Survivors include brothers Andrew and Julius; nieces Louise Dula and Jeanette (nee Chandler) Knazek (Gerald); nephews Alex Dula (Kim) and David Chandler (Barbara), plus grandnieces Julie (nee Dula) Adamson (Robert), Tess Dula, and Carrie Chandler and grandnephews Andy Dula (Maria), Chris Chandler, and Corey Chandler (Shaina).
Besides her husband and parents, Betty was also preceded in death by a young brother Julius who died in early childhood and brother Joseph, sisters Margaret Dula (Alex, Sr.) and Helen Chandler (Bernie).
Family suggests donations to Compassus Hospice Care in Betty's memory, 6000 Lombardo Center #140, Seven Hills, OH 44131.
