HELENE NISIEWICZ , (nee Wozniak), age 89. Devoted wife of 62 years to the late Mike; loving sister of Edmond Wozniak (Marguerite) (both deceased); "Ciocia" of Mireille Michalak (Michael) and Edward Wozniak (Susan); cherished aunt, great-aunt, and great-great aunt of many in both the United States and Poland. Helene was born in Coueron, France. One evening she met the love of her life, Mike, at a local dance. He met her parents on the following Sunday, they got married within three months and they were soon on their way to a new life in the United States – settling in the Slavic Village area of Cleveland. Helene had a variety of professions: seamstress in France, short-order cook at the Mayflower Diner (Broadway Ave.), finally settling at Chrysler automotive in Twinsburg. She loved going to Amish country, the many road trips with her brother Edmond, and playing slot machines at the casinos (which she won a little bit of money each time she went). She would always sing along to her favorites like Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, and Tony Bennett. She loved cooking Polish dishes – pierogis, kielbasa and sauerkraut, placek, and many other wonderful dishes. With Helene there was never a dull moment…she was a social butterfly who could chat up anybody! Her family would like to thank: Minna for being a wonderful neighbor and friend. The staff of Sunrise of Parma and the Memory Care team for all the care and love that they gave her! Also, Cypress Hospice for their care during her final days. Helene will miss her dear friends at Sunrise – Anne S. and the many others she made laugh along the way.

(corner of Broadview and Sprague Rds.), where services will be held Friday, June 23, at 10:15 AM, and at St. Anthony of Padua Church, State Rd., at 11:00 AM. Interment St. Mary Cemetery (E. 71st). VISITING HOURS:  FRIDAY 9:15 AM until time of service.
