Obituary

JAMES E. WELLS, "Jim" "Jimmy", age 82, resided in Solon, formerly of Maple Heights, died Sunday, July 17, 2022, at UH Geauga Medical Center. James  was a believer in Christ as his Savior and is now reunited with his heavenly family.
James was born October 26, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Charles and Florence Wells (nee Wondrak). James worked several jobs throughout his life. He was a recovering alcoholic of 42 years which he was very proud, and because of his sobriety he made sure to pay it forward by not only attending AA meetings but also speaking about alcoholism and sponsoring new members. He loved to spend time with his family and friends. Although he never had any children, he treated his nieces and nephews like his own; always bragging about their accomplishments.  He had a love for swimming and would try to swim daily, sometimes 1 to 2 times a day, up until the last 8 years. He also enjoyed telling funny stories about growing up with his siblings and all his adventures as well as basketball, baseball, football, reading biographies of athletes, and traveling to see family, but his true passion was horses and horse racing. James was a generous man, always willing to help someone in need, and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are: siblings Ru Ride, Marcia Wyatt, Linda Pekarek, and Dave Wells; nieces and nephews Cindy Reed (Steve Skinner), Wendy Strong, Larry Pekarek (Lora), Craig Wyatt, Pat Wyatt (Amy), Matt Wyatt, Tiffany Manning (Mike), Shane Wells, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.  James was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Charles, Joseph, and Daniel; sister Mary Bridgett; and brother-in-law Don Wyatt; nephews Joseph Wells, Doug Wyatt, and Jonathan Strong.
Please share your thoughts with the family on James' guestbook.  Honoring his wishes cremation will take place with a private graveside service August 12, 2022 at Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland. Those desiring may make contributions to a Catholic charity of your choice or Alcoholics Anonymous .
