Obituary

JOHN KOLLAR, age 87, passed away September 12, 2017.  He was born September 9, 1930 in Cleveland, OH to John and Mary Kollar, the second of two children.  John graduated from East Technical High School, Case Western Reserve University and Adelbert Law School at CWRU.  Upon completing his education, he joined the United States Air Force where he served as a member of the Judge Advocate General's Corps.  He was stationed in Cocoa Beach, FL and the Cape Canaveral Space Center.  After a number of years in the Air Force, John returned to Cleveland where he took a position with National Labor Relations Board.  He spent 48 years as an attorney with the NLRB, the final 20 years as Regional Attorney.  He loved his work for the NLRB and working on behalf of all people, independent of their financial means or social standing, through government service.  He retired from the NLRB in 2005.

John's greatest joy was his family. His love for his wife, Connie, of 63 years, his three children, and other members of his family was boundless.  Selfless and generous, wise and witty, compassionate and loving, open-minded and freethinking, his everyday presence in the lives of his family and friends will be deeply and dearly missed.

John is survived by his devoted wife Connie (nee-Monti), loving children John "Jay" (Sarah Davis, DDS), Michael S., and Kathleen Thom (Michael), cherished grandson John "Jack", dear sister Helen Slezak (Rudy-deceased), dearest nephew Mark Slezak (Kathy) and niece Sharon Gurak (Randy). Private family services were held.
