It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Jose “Jojo” Adanza on April 27, 2026 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Born on October 19, 1958, in Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental, Philippines, Jojo was a man who found his greatest joy in life’s simple yet meaningful moments. He was accomplished in many pursuits, particularly billiards and basketball, where his skill and passion shone. Jojo lived a life of discipline and moderation—he neither drank nor smoked, and he maintained a healthy lifestyle without the need for maintenance medication. Though some fondly referred to him as a “gambler,” he simply had a deep appreciation for card games, playing not out of vice but for enjoyment and camaraderie. He also cherished time spent fishing with his family, moments that brought him peace, happiness, and a deeper connection with those he loved most.
Above all, Jojo was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Avegail, and together they built a family rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering support.
He will be deeply missed by his children: Alecsis Gayle and husband Ryan, and Alain Joseph; along with his children from his previous relationships: Jonnelie, Joshua, Jose Jr, Joanna, Jay, Jzen, and Justin; and by his cherished grandchildren: Ryle, Rayne, Rhian, Rendel, Rovienne, Rovianna, Thomas Jacob, Lindsay, Liana, Jazztine, Margaux, and John Marcus, who brought him endless pride and joy. He is also survived by his siblings Dita and husband Brian, Anna and husband Larry, and half-siblings.
Jojo was a remarkable man. He had quiet ways to support and love his family - the kindness he showed, and the love he poured into being a husband, a father, and a brother made us all better just for having him in our lives.
