Dr. JOSEPH J. HUMEL , age 91.  Beloved husband of Patricia (née Oden); devoted father of Hollis (John) Corp and Gary; loving grandfather of Jonathan (Tori) Corp and Jordan (Maggie) Corp; cherished great-grandfather of Myles, Wyatt and Harrison Corp.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Pauline (née Eppich) Humel and his sister Helen Adams.

Joe was a graduate of Maple Heights High School. He continued to earn his B.S. in Chemistry and his D.D.S. at Western Reserve University.

After graduating, he served in the Naval Dental Corps as a lieutenant.

Joe then returned home to raise his family and practice dentistry in Maple Heights and later in Independence.  Joe was dedicated to his profession and his patients, and it was not uncommon for him to make house calls to check on them.

Joe enjoyed walleye fishing, boating, attending Cleveland Indians games, watching the Browns and the Cavaliers, watching his grandsons play baseball and basketball, and having the greenest grass on the street.

Joe loved his family and friends.  He treated people with respect and always helped when he was able.  He was a genuine good person and will be greatly missed.

Because of Joe's love for dogs the family suggests contributions to the Cleveland Animal Protective League 1729 Willey Avenue #1, Cleveland, OH 44113.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 13, at St. Basil the Great Church, 8700 Brecksville Rd., Brecksville, at 10:00 AM.  Please meet at church. Interment private Brecksville Cemetery.
