Obituary

KATHLEEN ANN SHUPE, nee Rollins, age 76, of Richfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 8th, 2025, at her home surrounded by the family she cherished so deeply.

Born with a generous heart and a quiet strength, Kathleen devoted her life to the people she loved. She shared a beautiful marriage of 50 years with her husband, Hayden Jeff Shupe, and together they built a life full of love, devotion, humor, and unwavering support. Kathleen was the proud and loving mother of two daughters, Dr. Samantha O'Leary and Stephanie and welcomed her son-in-law Patrick O'Leary into the family with open arms.

Nothing brought Kathleen more joy than being a grandmother. She adored her three grandchildren—Alyssa, Leanna, and Hayden—each of whom held a very special place in her heart. She was their cheerleader, confidante, and constant source of warmth.

Kathy was born in Parma, Ohio and was preceded in death by her parents John and Margaret (nee Durik) Rollins and her brothers Richard and James Rollins. She is survived by her husband Hayden Jeffrey Shupe, daughters Stephanie and Samantha, son-in-law Patrick, 3 grandchildren; Alyssa, Leanna and Hayden, her sister-in-law, Lynn Rollins, her sister-in-law, Linda Rollins, and her brother-in-law David Shupe, along with many extended family members and friends who treasured her presence.

Kathy graduated from Kent State University with a degree in education. While there, she met her 3 "sisters", Pam DeGasperi, Nancy Hoffman and Myra Kruzer who have remained her best friends throughout their lifetime together. Her career choice led her to work at the Cleveland Clinic in the Cardiology Department as an administrative secretary for many years.

Kathy's nickname, known among many firefighters that her husband worked with around the country, is "The General". Not because she was strict or hard but because she managed her family and her household with an amazing sense of grace and stability. Her husband would also lovingly refer to Kathy as "red" because of her beautiful red hair.

Her passions included boating on Atwood Lake, traveling with her family and friends, and watching her grandchildren in different sporting activities. Kathy was a talented artist that turned everything she touched into a creative piece of artwork, a wonderful cook and an avid music lover that knew the word to every song played on the radio.

Kathleen's kindness, her humor, and her deep love for others will forever remain in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. Her family finds comfort in knowing that her legacy lives on in the countless moments of love she shared, the lives she touched, and the memories that will continue to shine brightly.

May her beautiful spirit rest in peace.
