Patricia K.
Wyman
December 21, 1950 – May 3, 2024
Dr. PATRICIA K. WYMAN , 73, of Berea, OH passed away peacefully surrounded by her "favorites" on May 3, 2024, after complications from a variety of health conditions.
Patty was born on December 21, 1950, in Lorain, OH. She graduated from Rhodes High School in 1967 and went on to earn an undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and a master's degree from Cleveland State University. One of her proudest achievements was earning her doctoral degree in Urban Education from Cleveland State University in 1999.
Patty was a talented educator that taught in the Cleveland Public School System for 25 years. She was a role model who inspired many of her students. She continued to receive praises and appreciation up until her final days from those who were positively influenced by her love and support. Patty also created everlasting friendships with her co-workers that turned into her forever family. She had SO many heartfelt friendships with amazing humans that helped encourage her to stay strong and conquer her goals.
Patty fiercely loved her children Lyndie and GJ while adoring their spouses Rocky and Allison. The people that brought a whole new joy to her life were her grandchildren. She celebrated her new role with the title of GAGA and genuinely loved each and every one of them. She was so proud of their accomplishments - from first steps, to their artistic masterpieces, to a variety of athletics; no performance was too small and ALWAYS acknowledged by GAGA.
Patty was passionate about her animal companions. She gave several lucky dogs a beautiful home including Arlo, Jesse, Clinton and most recently Jewel. She loved to travel and even spent time teaching in Poland. Her favorite paradise on Earth was Bermuda. She could sit on the beach for hours listening to the waves while reading a good book and getting a tan.
As a talented wordsmith, Patty enjoyed writing nonfiction and biographies. She recently added author to her accomplishments when she proudly published her own autobiography, THAT'S LIFE! At Least My Version of It .
Patty was so happy to have found HER HONEY Stephen Welch about 7 years ago. They spent lots of time together enjoying nature around Coe Lake, doing Tai-Chi, and traveling to Yosemite.
Patty LIVED A GREAT STORY!!! She was a true warrior and one of the toughest there ever was. She faced numerous challenges from childhood to heartache to health complications all while staying true to herself as she fought with grit and grace. She will forever be admired by her "favorites" - her children Lyndie Schuckert (Rocky) and Gordon Wyman (Allison); her grandchildren Owen, Tegan, and Cole Schuckert and Emery, Dane, Cade, Rocco, and Eli Wyman; her siblings Fran Mitchell and Frank Bohner (deceased); and half-siblings Howard, Bruce (deceased), Gail (deceased) and Barbara (deceased); and loving partner Steven Welch. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cleveland Animal Protective League , LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland , or Planned Parenthood .
Patty's celebration of her "GREAT STORY" will be held at a future date. Information will be posted on her Facebook account in the near future.
