Philip A.
Kovalcik Jr.
June 28, 1947 – March 12, 2021
PHILIP ANDREW KOVALCIK, Jr ., passed away peacefully on Friday, March 12, 2021, at UH-Parma, Ohio. Philip was born in East Cleveland, Ohio and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a long-time resident of Seven Hills until 2003 when he moved to Broadview Heights. He graduated from Cleveland South High School in 1966 and also from Cuyahoga Community College. He retired from Ferro Corporation as a draftsman in Plant Engineering. He was a great lover of music and dancing and began a part-time career as DJ ALOHA PHIL, playing music at Classic Car Cruise-ins, car shows, class reunions, etc. He supplemented his retirement income as a cashier at Walgreen's in Seven Hills where he enjoyed interacting with his customers.
He is survived by his loving daughter Christina "Tina" Kovalcik (Drew) and son Philip "Philly" A. Kovalcik III (Taylor); cherished granddaughters Izabella "Izzy" and Gabriella "Gabby" and infant grandson Gianni Andrew; and beloved twin sister Phyllis Boni (Bill). He also was best friend of Bobby Berteau (Peggy) for more than 50 years; loving and caring uncle and cousin; American patriot; and friend to many. He was the proud son of the late Philip A. Kovalcik, Sr. and Clara Kovalcik and Godson of the late Henry R. Roman and Margaret Kovalcik Rusnak.
Phil shall forever be remembered for his love of music and dancing; his bubbly personality and corny jokes; his love of all kinds of cars and motorcycles (anything with an engine!); and his sincere compassion and kind and giving heart.
He was very proud of his Polish and Slovak heritage and loved his immediate family and maternal and paternal relatives.
Private services were held at Latek & Rybicki Funeral Home and burial at All Saints Cemetery in Northfield, Ohio. A Celebration of Life will be held later this summer and information will be available on the Latek & Rybicki website.
