Rachel A.
Ouellette
July 18, 1949 – January 20, 2026
RACHEL A. BEAULIEU OUELLETTE , beloved wife of 56 years of Lucien Ouellette, was taken home by her Savior, Jesus, on January 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband Lucien, her four daughters and sons-in-law, and thirteen grandchildren: Rachelle & Jeff King of Granby, CT and their children Jacob, Alexis, Alana, & Joshua; Wendy & Randall Hyde of Brunswick, OH and their children Henry, Adam, Samantha, & Eli; Joy & Thomas Palmer of Lynchburg, VA and their children Tommy, William, & Caroline; and Hope & Anthony Groccia of Charlotte, NC and their children Anna & Joseph. She will also be dearly missed by her niece Sonia Caissie, who was like a daughter to her, Sonia's husband Ben, and their son Philippe of Fredericton, NB. She is also survived by two of her older brothers and their wives, Alban & Irma Beaulieu of Ottawa, Ontario and Real & Donna Beaulieu of London, Ontario; her godchild, Gisele Gendreau; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Rachel was born in St. Leonard, New Brunswick, Canada on July 18, 1949 to Alfred and Lillian Beaulieu. She was the youngest of fourteen and was beautiful inside and out. In 1968, she caught the eye of Lucien Ouellette of Van Buren, Maine, and he knew he wanted to look at her forever. They married in 1970. After Lucien was discharged from the Army, they settled in Van Buren where they raised their four daughters and were active in the community until they relocated to North Royalton, Ohio in 2022.
Rachel had a profound faith and thriving relationship with God, the Holy Spirit, and our Blessed Mother Mary. Everyone she encountered felt her otherworldly warmth; she had the same bright smile for strangers as she had for those closest to her, and a divine knack for making everyone feel seen and valued. She was an incredible wife and mom who loved her family immensely. She raised her daughters to pray and to love Jesus and people. She was a talented cook and baker, blessing her family and others with her delicious food. She was active in her church and community as a Cursillo coordinator, eucharistic minister, CCD teacher, music minister, lecturer, and member of the Columbiettes and Women's Auxillary American Legion. She was known as a prayer warrior and found it a privilege to pray over people's situations, struggles, & pain. Her gaze was always upon Jesus and her heart always glorified Him in her words and actions.
In 1996, she became a mémère and immediately put all other grandmas to shame. Her thirteen grandchildren were her most treasured Earthly gift and will never be loved more by anyone. Even though she lived far from many of them, she made sure they knew they were loved and cherished in a way that only she could. She was their biggest cheerleader, encourager, friend, and provider of all yummy things to eat. She loved to surprise them with packages of her pumpkin bread, and she knew to never travel without her buckwheat flour and griddle to treat them to her famous ployes (always dutifully slathered in butter and sugar by Pépère, her faithful sous chef). Her visits with them were spent playing card games, cheering them on at their sporting events, and showing them how to make all of her special dishes in the kitchen. On each of their birthdays they would receive a lively Happy Birthday song, sung as only she and Pépère could!
Rachel taught us all how to live: joyfully and gratefully, needing little, wanting nothing, and giving much. She prayed daily, took great pleasure in swimming, reading, and a game of tock or cribbage, and believed there was rarely a bad day for a walk. She is dearly missed but because of her faith in Jesus her Savior we can rejoice that she is home with Him!
