Obituary

SISTER PATRICIA RAELENE , (nee Patricia Ruth Peters) was born on December 31, 1950, four minutes after her twin Pamela Rose.  Her parents were not expecting twins, and her father fainted when the doctor told him it was not one but two more girls.

Sister was raised in Cleveland and Mentor, Ohio.  She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and worked at the May Company before entering the Little Sisters of the Poor where she professed final vows on September 16, 1984.  She credits the Little Sisters with having given her the best possible religious formation.  With the Little Sisters she served as a nurse and activities director, bringing much joy to residents and family members alike.

On February 2, 2000, Sister Patricia Raelene transferred to the Sisters of the Holy Spirit in Garfield Heights, Ohio, where she served first as a nurse at Jennings Center for Older Adults and later as Director of Pastoral Care.  In 2006 she was elected Superior of the Community, a role she exercised until her death on April 1, 2021.

Sister Patricia Raelene loved Christmas and celebrated it year-round.  We attribute the blizzard on April 1 to the fact that she loved snow as long as she did not have to be out in it.

Sister was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Alene Peters (nee Smith) and her twin Pamela Rose Deely.  She is survived by the following siblings:  Mary Ellen Gerson (Terry – deceased), John Michael Peters (Linda), Nancy Rae Posze (Frank), Michele Pappalardo (Tony), Linda Marie Peters (Ron Rask), Sharon Kay Perts (John), Alene Mary Kalista (Tim), Kimberly Rae Stein ((Dan), and brothers-in-law Tom Tuttle and Bill Deely.  She is also survived by her Sister in Community, Sister Margaret Mary Grochowski and dear friends Helen Zabas and Eileen McCabe.  She is the beloved aunt and great-aunt to an abundance of nieces and nephews.  Sister Patricia Raelene was a dear friend to all who knew her.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Rd., Mentor, Ohio, her home Parish, on FRIDAY, APRIL 9, at 12:00 Noon.  The Mass will be live streamed at sjvmentor.org

Interment at Calvary Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Sister's memory to Jennings Center for Older Adults or Jennings Hospice/Northeast Ohio Hospice (10204 Granger Road, Garfield Heights, Ohio 44125), or to a Food Pantry of your choice.  Sister requests no flowers, please.
