STEVEN HARREL HUNSICKER, (11/9/1943 - 06/26/2026), of Broadview Heights, OH passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Steven was married for 58 years to Kathleen (Benya) Hunsicker who survived him. Father to Timothy (Cara) Hunsicker, Benjamin (Miriam) Hunsicker and Jim (Kate) Hunsicker. Grandfather to Madison (Michael) Anderson, Jacob, Emma, Zechariah, Sarah and Gideon Hunsicker. Great-grandfather to Penelope and Alden Anderson.
Predeceased by his parents, Henry and Norma Hunsicker, brothers David, Jonathan and Andrew Hunsicker. Steven served in the US Army from 1964-1967 and was honorably discharged to further his education. He studied at Cameron College and Cuyahoga Community College which prepared him for a long-term career in Information Systems with organizations including The Cleveland Press, American Greetings, Sandusco/Arrow Distributing and various consulting firms.
Steven was a long-time, active member of Cross of Hope Church (formerly Parma Heights Baptist Church) in Parma Heights, Ohio where he regularly worshipped with his family and grew in his faith. Steven volunteered for many years on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad as a ‘trainman’ working with guests, with his favorite season being the “Polar Express”. He also served as a Volunteer, Ambassador and Information Desk Volunteer at University Hospitals Parma Medical Center. He was also a volunteer in the Spiritual Care ministry at the hospital, visiting patients throughout the hospital. Steven took pride in being a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and worked to ensure the proper documentation was completed for his sons and grandsons to become members. When not working or volunteering, Steven enjoyed puttering around the house and the property they owned for over 55 years. He enjoyed taking the grandchildren for golf cart rides through the woods and watching them grow into strong individuals.
A visitation will be held at Cross of Hope Church, 8971 West Ridgewood Drive, Parma Heights, Ohio 44130 from 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. The family would like to thank the friends who walked with him during this time and all the staff and physicians who provided care for Steven during his stay at UH Parma Medical Center and Southwest Residential Hospice.
