Obituary

THOMAS PATRICK BEISWENGER , age 88, of Brecksville, Ohio passed away on August 25, 2022. Tom was born on May 25, 1934 to Otto and Marie (nee Seidell) in Akron, Ohio.  Tom graduated from St. Vincent High School before embarking on a career as a professional photographer doing work for Western Electric, BF Goodrich, BusinessWeek, the NY Museum of Natural History, The Akron Beacon Journal, and many other publications and industrial companies. He later co-founded companies involved in labor relations and color photographic reproductions before retiring in 1993.

During his time as a Brecksville resident, Tom served on the volunteer fire department, founded the local rescue squad, and started the Disaster Services organization. In 1997, Tom was selected as an Honoree for the Most Notable Residents of the City of Brecksville in the past 25 years.

Tom was predeceased by his wife Phyllis Beiswenger (nee Beatty). He was the loving father of Susan Muller (Todd), Robin Joseph (Michael), John Beiswenger (Susan), and Chris Beiswenger (Kelly). He is the beloved grandfather of Todd P. and John Muller, Lindsey, Meredith, and Julia Joseph, Danielle and Joshua Bashaw, and Casey, Riley, and Cameron Beiswenger. Tom loved spending time with the next generation as the great-grandfather of Oliver Muller, Julian and Calvin Muller, and Madison Bushey. Tom was loved by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews across the country.

Tom had a deep appreciation of the outdoors, teaching his children how to camp, hike, backpack, canoe, and rappel. He loved to target shoot with his family and friends especially at his nephew Bob's cabin in southern Ohio. He enjoyed four-wheel drive vehicles and relished towing a neighbor out of a snow drift or a friend out of the mud. He was committed to his community and could often be found working around the Cambridge Village pool and recreation area. Tom was known among friends and family as a man who could fix anything and generously helped all he knew with electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and automotive repair.
